Paper Wasps

Bees and wasps have the most common allergic reactions in Western Australia.

Australia has about 35 different species of Paper wasps. They grow to about 25mm in length and have yellow and black stripes.

Paper wasps dangle their legs when in flight.

They can sting more than once, and most stings will occur near to the nest as they are VERY territorial and will sting if threatened.

Most bites and stings consist of a localized itch and swelling which usually settles in a few days.  Apply ice to the sting and see your doctor if pain or swelling persists.

** WARNING ** Avoid going near the nest during the daytime
